Art in Kitchens and Baths

Julia was interviewed for the below article, which was featured in the March/April 2016 issue of East Coast Home & Design. Here we’ve added some of the inspiration that shaped the article.

Among ones home furnishings, artwork stands as one important piece that can give the true essence of the homeowner. One of the many locations that art hangs is in the bathroom and kitchen. The best of nature and art

Julia Contacessi’s creations are designed to add color and warmth to the areas where they're displayed. Many of her most recent works are on display in several galleries throughout Connecticut. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Patricia Larson and Helen Frankenthaler, Contacessi allowed the work to reveal itself organically, layering loose, watered paint with translucent colors to build up color intensity and create a fluid feeling.
